The Widow's Web- Competitive DnD (8 Spieler), Interesse?

Malarachne's Mandates: The Rules of The Web

    Declaration of Action

If a champion declares an action when the game is not in initiative rounds, and another player contests or wishes to perform the same action,
the first champion gains Advantage on the subsequent initiative roll.

“I stab Bob in the back!” or “I grab the magic sword.” - Everyone rolls initiative.
The initiating champion gets Advantage on that roll for triggering the action.

    Summoning & Companions

Champions are not allowed to summon or bring anything into the web that has its own hit points.
I.E. Ranger companions, steel defenders, familiars or anything summoned by the various spells.

This rule can significantly impact several character classes!

    Death Saves

There are no Death Saves in the Web. When a champion is reduced to 0 hp, they are dead.
In addition, spells and abilities that raise or resurrect the dead do not work.
Abilities or spells that would otherwise prevent a champion from going to 0 hit points still function as normal.

    Magic Item Attunement

Magic items can be equipped and attuned instantly with a single bonus action.
There is no limit to the number of magic items a champion may attune to and use in The Widow's Web.
    Item location limits still apply.

Example: a champion can only have one weapon per hand. But they can have ten rings if they still have ten fingers.

    Enemy & Ally Status

Champions can designate another character as an enemy (hostile) or an ally at any time as a free action.

Example: A champion could deny a beneficial effect to another character,
calling them an enemy, but then allow that champion to pass through their
square as though they were an ally that same round.

    Character Creation

The Widow's Web encourages character optimization or “min-maxing.” It does not lean into role playing.

Having a finely tuned murder machine character does not guarantee victory, but it can help.

    Framework

    Available Classes & Subclasses

All character classes and subclasses from the three earliest 5e reference books that include such information (Ich nehm an Phb, Tashas und ?? Xanathars??)
provided the player follows the guidelines spelled out in Malarachne’s Mandates.

    Guidelines

    • Character stats are built using a standard ability score point buy

    • 15 is the highest ability score you can buy, before adding species bonuses

    • All players must be Elf, sub-species, Umbral Drow. The Umbral Drow's racial template is as follows:

» You receive a +2 ability score increase to a single stat and a +1 ability score increase in a different stat.

» You do not get innate spellcasting, you instead get an ability called Malarachne's Luck.

    Malarachne’s Luck.
Once per long rest, Umbral Drow can use Malarachne’s Luck to force an opponent to reroll any successful D20 roll.
You can wait until the GM has declared your opponent’s roll has been successful before deciding to force them to reroll.
The opponent must use the result of the new roll.
You do not get the drow species magic (dancing lights, faerie fire, and darkness).

    • All players must be an evil alignment

    » Seriously… you can’t be good.

    • All characters are 8th level

» Multiclassing into only one other class is allowed

» Characters must satisfy the multiclass prerequisites

    • All characters receive the maximum possible hit points based on the class hit dice and constitution bonus for every level, not just level 1.

    equipment

Characters start with a cloth tunic and a small pouch.

    Then they may choose:

    • One non-magical weapon that your character is proficient with.

» Ranged weapons have unlimited ammunition that disappears after attack and damage resolution

» Thrown weapons are magically returned to the wielder’s hand after every attack attempt

    • One non-magical set of armor OR a shield (not both) that your character is proficient with.

Spell-casting classes all have a tattoo, the Widow's Mark
that acts as spell focus and allows characters to ignore the required material components of any spell, regardless of their cost.
The winner and thus new ruler of the city retains the legendary mark upon leaving the arena.

    Note: This tattoo is indelible.
Even cutting or burning off a character’s tattoo will not remove the ability to focus on casting spells.
